Job summary

Qualifications include a Practical Nursing diploma or Scrub Technician training and 1–2 years of surgical exposure. A 3–6 month orientation helps establish familiarity with unit guidelines and processes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing or a recognized Scrub Technician School preferred.
• 1–2 years of clinical exposure in the surgical setting, such as surgical assistant or patient transporter.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with physicians and families to elicit cooperation.
• Orientation of 3–6 months to acquire familiarity with department and unit policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs delegated tasks under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Care partner to Registered Nurse providing patient care for surgical patients in a collaborative manner.

A little about the job....

• Technician functions under supervision of Registered Nurse and performs delegated tasks.
• Technician is care partner to Registered Nurse. Patient Care for surgical patients is provided collaboratively. Tasks performed are in compliance with department and hospital policies and procedures and within education preparation as well as Alabama Nurse Practice Act if an LPN.

Qualificationsfor the job...

• Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing or recognized Scrub Technician School preferred.
• One to two years of clinical exposure in the surgical setting, i.e. surgical assistant, patient transporter, instrument processing, decontamination, preferred or required in lieu of formal training.
• Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with physicians and families to elicit cooperation and allay apprehensions.
• Work requires three to six months orientation to acquire necessary familiarity with department and unit policies and procedures.
