Job summary

Farmer J is a fast‑casual, farm‑driven restaurant concept bringing its NYC expansion in 2025. The Kitchen Team member prepares and serves food, keeps the kitchen and service areas clean, and supports fast, high‑quality service while upholding Farmer J’s standards for hospitality.

Team members work across back‑of‑house prep and guest‑facing service, following recipes, safety policies, and FIFO stock practices to ensure fresh, high‑quality meals for guests.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year cooking in high-volume fast-casual or cafe-style settings.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Able to read and follow recipes and instructions in English.
• Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare menu items quickly and accurately following Farmer J’s recipes and standards.
• Serve guests with friendliness and attention when working at the counter.
• Maintain food safety and hygiene standards at all times, including proper hand-washing and safe food handling.
• Keep workstations, prep areas, and service counters clean, stocked, and organized.
• Assist with receiving and checking deliveries for quality and accuracy.
• Rotate stock properly using FIFO to ensure freshness and reduce waste.
• Communicate clearly and courteously with front of house team and guests.
• Handle guest requests and questions about menu items with confidence and care.
• Support team members by pitching in on cleaning and closing duties as needed.
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies strictly.
• Maintain proper portion control and presentation of all food served.
• Stay flexible and ready to support other roles during busy times to keep service running smoothly.
