Job summary

Farmer J Limited in New York, NY is seeking a Front of House team member to greet guests, take orders, ring up sales, and keep the dining area tidy and welcoming.

You will be cross‑trained across roles to support fast service while upholding hospitality, product knowledge, and guest experience. This role offers flexible full- or part-time schedules with competitive pay and opportunities to grow with the brand.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in high-volume fast-casual or café-style venues.
• Strong food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness understanding.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; team player.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and take accurate orders with a smile.
• Process payments using the POS and ring up purchases.
• Serve food and drinks to Farmers J standards.
• Keep front-of-house tidy, stocked, and welcoming.
• Stay knowledgeable about menu items to answer questions.
• Communicate clearly with FOH and BOH teams; follow safety standards.

Job description

As a member of our Front of House team, you’re the face of Farmer J—the first point of contact for every guest. You’ll take orders, ring up purchases, serve food with care, and keep the front of house clean, organized, and welcoming. FOH team members are cross‑trained on a variety of roles to support smooth service and maintain the highest standards of hospitality, product knowledge, and guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet every guest with warmth, energy, and a positive attitude
• Take accurate orders and process payments using the POS
• Serve food and drinks with care and to the Farmer J standard
• Keep the front‑of‑house clean, organized, and stocked
• Stay knowledgeable about menu items and ingredients to answer guest questions
• Communicate clearly with both front of house and back of house team
• Follow all food safety and hygiene standards
• Bring positive energy to every shift and support your teammates wherever needed because at Farmer J, we give a fork about each other!

Qualifications:

• 1 year of experience in a high‑volume, high‑quality fast‑casual or café‑style restaurants
• Appreciation for real food: scratch cooking, seasonal ingredients, and sustainable practices
• Comfortable using Point of Sales System and other restaurant systems
• Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards
• Team player: collaborative, positive and always ready to pitch in
• Calm under pressure and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment
• Thrives in a fast‑pace kitchen environment
• A strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to work a Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Authorized to work in the United States
