Job summary

Foss Recycling Inc. is seeking a Scale Operator/Laborer for the Mebane, NC area to support the Location/Scale Manager. You will weigh and identify incoming/outgoing scrap, grade materials, and maintain precise scale tickets and documentation in a fast-paced yard.

You will also assist with sorting, baling, and boxing materials, operate yard equipment when trained, and provide courteous service to customers and vendors while upholding safety rules and company policies.

Qualifications

• Identify, sort, and grade scrap metals per procedures.
• Perform basic math for weights and measurements.
• Read, write, and communicate effectively in English for duties and safety.
• Follow written and verbal instructions.
• Safely operate yard equipment after training and authorization.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Operate scales accurately and safely per procedures.
• Verify customer information, material type, gross and tare weights.
• Ensure scale tickets and documentation are complete and accurate.
• Assist with sorting, grading, unloading, baling, and boxing materials.
• Operate forklifts, skid steers, bobcats, or other yard equipment when trained.
• Maintain organized yard and safety in traffic flow.
• Provide courteous, professional customer service to clients.
