Job summary

Radius Recycling is seeking a Scale Operator to weigh and grade incoming scrap, operate inbound and outbound scales, and direct customers for unloading. The role requires knowledge of metals identification and ISRI grading specs, with emphasis on delivering excellent customer service and safe, efficient material handling.

The candidate should have 3–5 years in a similar role, comfortable with price discussions with production crews, and capable of maintaining documentation and equipment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required/preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role or scrap industry preferred.
• Mathematical and problem solving skills, basic negotiation, attention to detail, and basic typing skills required.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade incoming ferrous and non‑ferrous scrap loads and operate in‑bound/out‑bound scales.
• Direct customers to unloading areas and assist with pricing discussions with production crews.
• Coordinate with office personnel to document purchasing transactions accurately and timely.
• Communicate scrap quality and acceptance procedures and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Maintain equipment—test scales for accuracy and report malfunctions to supervision.
