Job summary

State Courts System in Tampa, FL seeks a Scopist to support the Circuit Court Reporters office. The role scopes, edits, and proofs stenographic transcripts and conducts research for accuracy. Remote work may be allowed on a limited basis, subject to policies.

The position requires two years of related experience and an Associate’s degree (or two years of college) in a related field; experience with stenography is preferred. State-funded, comprehensive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience.
• Associate’s degree or two years of college in a related field.
• Substitutions: additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
• Preferred: prior scopist or stenographic court reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Scoping, editing, and proofreading transcripts for accuracy.
• Verify transcripts against court proceedings for correct details.
• Perform scoping with Eclipse or similar software.
• Read stenographic notes of proceedings for comprehension.
• Conduct research to ensure correct spellings of names, places, and terms.
