Job summary

The State Courts System in Tampa, FL is seeking a SCOPIST to provide administrative support for the Circuit Court Reporters’ office. You will scope, edit, and proof transcripts, perform research for accuracy, and assist with stenographic proceedings.

Remote work may be allowed on a limited basis based on operational needs. Requirements include two years of related experience and an associated degree or two years of college in a relevant field; court reporting or scopist experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience.
• Associate's degree or the equivalent of two years of college in computer operations, court reporting, paralegal, or closely related field.
• Substitutions: additional relevant experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Preferred: previous stenographic court reporting or scopist experience.

Responsibilities

• Scope, edit, and proof transcripts of court proceedings for accuracy.
• Perform scoping work for each stenographic court reporter using Eclipse or similar software.
• Read court reporting stenographic notes of proceedings.
• Research terms and names to ensure transcript accuracy.
