Job summary

BlueLedge is seeking an editor to refine verbatim transcripts prepared by Official Reporters into precise, properly formatted records of House proceedings. This role requires strong command of legislative terminology and the ability to use CAT software to meet tight deadlines.

Work is performed at a compact workstation in a shared office with moderate noise and limited privacy. You will edit for grammar, punctuation, and style aligned with House standards and the Government Publishing Office

Qualifications

• At least 5 years editing verbatim transcripts preferred.
• Expert grammar, punctuation, spelling, and vocabulary.
• Familiarity with legislative procedures and parliamentary terminology.
• Willingness to learn Government Publishing Office (GPO) style and house standards.

Responsibilities

• Edit transcripts for accuracy, formatting, grammar, and style per House standards.
• Ensure names, quotes, and terminology reflect proceedings accurately.
• Coordinate with Official Reporters and editors to resolve inconsistencies.
• Meet daily production targets, including minimum pages per day.
• Ability to work extended hours during House sessions.
