Job summary

Epiny is seeking a per diem Direct Support Professional to assist a 16-year-old male with brain injury and other disabilities, advocating for rights and helping him participate in daily life, home and community activities.

Location: Scipio Center, NY; Schedule: After school hours and occasional weekends; Pay: $23–$25 per hour. Must have a NYS driver’s license and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid New York State driver's license.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communications skills.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must complete all required trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, training, and assistance in activities of daily living for a 16-year-old male.
• Support development of social, recreation, community, and domestic skills at home and in the community.
• Advocate for rights and benefits for the person served and liaise with caregivers and programs.

Job description

Job Purpose: Assist individuals with brain injury, intellectual disabilities, and other neurological disabilities in achieving a challenging, stimulating, dignified life by serving as an advocate and liaison for and on behalf of individuals' rights and benefits.

Essential Functions:

• Provide supervision, training, and assistance in accomplishing activities of daily living, which includes, but is not limited to, self-care skills, social skills, recreation skills, community skills, and domestic skills for a 16 year old male. He enjoys playing video games and listening to a variety of genres of music. He would like to work on goals both at home and in the community, and is also interested in finding opportunities to be more involved in recreational activities.

Location: Scipio Center, NY

Schedule:

• Per Diem (0-19.9)
• After school hours and occasional weekends

Pay Rate:

$23/hr-$25/hr

Education and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent; one-year experience in the human service field preferred.

Qualifications:

• Maintain a valid New York State driver's license; a vehicle is required to perform the job
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be trained in all required trainings within 90 days of being hired and maintain current certifications with all required trainings
• Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communications skills
• Must be 18 years or older
