Job description

Atalanta is seeking an experienced, highlymotivated, and detail-oriented molecular and cellular biologist to join our InVitro Biology team and lead the high-throughput screening team. AsHTS team lead, this person will be responsible for the development andexpansion of our screening capabilities to evaluate siRNA efficacy in mammaliancells and will oversee the implementation of HTS to supportpreclinicaldrug development for multiple therapeutic targets.

Candidatemust be familiar with microplate-based cell culture and automated liquidhandling. A background in neurobiology and/or familiarity with neuronal cellassay development is a plus.

EssentialFunctions:
  • Implementing and optimizing high throughputautomated processes to accelerate siRNA compound screening and evaluation incell-based assays.
  • Developing and standardizing cell-basedassays, using skills in molecular cloning, stable cell line generation, cellculture and expression analysis to assess biological activity of potential siRNA therapeuticcandidates
  • Application of data analysis tools to assessbiological activity and assay performance and for statistical analysis ofexperimental data
  • Managing research associates in theperformance of screening assays, in a matrixed organization
  • Interfacing with multiple project teams toadapt assays to high throughput formats, stage and prioritize screens, iteratively improve processes, and identify strong therapeutic lead compounds
  • Communicating study designs, progress andresults through strong interpersonal interactions as well as slide presentationsand reports
Required Qualifications:
  • Technical expertise in cell-based bioassays, high-throughputscreening automation, mRNA expression analysis and ELISA/multiplex assays.
  • A strong background in assay development, optimization and validation.
  • Expertise in molecular biology, includingcreation of stable cell lines for target evaluation
  • A demonstrated ability to work with largeexperimental data sets including statistical analyses.
  • Experience in neurodegenerative and neurologicaldisease research
  • Ability to work and think independently andcontribute as a part of a highly matrixed team
  • Self-motivation, ability to multi-task, capacityto handle multiple and changing priorities as well as fluctuations in theworkload
  • Excellent organization skills and strongattention to detail
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, ability toindependently analyze and present data to scientific teams, excellentcommunication skills (oral and written)
Education
  • Ph.D. inneuroscience, biochemistry, or a relevant biological science with an additional3+ years of relevant industry experience in assay development and highthroughput screening, or a B.S./M.S. with equivalent experience
