Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a Scientist on the Research/Biologics team to develop and screen novel gene editing therapies for Insmed’s pipeline. You will collaborate across the research organization to advance therapies to patients in need, reporting to the Associate Principal Scientist.

The role requires a PhD by Sept 2026 and hands-on molecular biology, assay development, and independent experimental design. In-person work in Bridgewater, NJ is expected with minimal travel.

Qualifications

• PhD in life science (conferred by Sept 2026).
• Hands-on molecular biology: PCR, cloning, protein expression, mutagenesis.
• Experience with cell-based assays and data analysis.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Scientist on the Research/Biologics team to help develop and screen novel gene editing therapies to support Insmed’s gene editing therapies pipeline. Reporting to the Associate Principal Scientist, you’ll collaborate across the research organization to bring therapies to patients in need.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate to evaluate gene editing therapy candidate properties and function
• Design and produce novel gene editing therapy candidates
• Develop cell-based biological assays
• Author and review protocols, electronic notebook entries, technical reports, and scientific publications
• Maintain documentation of experimental procedures and results
• Communicate results in writing and oral presentations to peers and management

Who You Are / Qualifications

• PhD in a Life Science discipline (must be conferred by September 2026)

You Are Or You Also Have

• Hands-on molecular biology expertise (PCR, cloning, protein expression, mutagenesis, genetic engineering)
• Hands-on independent experimental design/assay development (troubleshooting, optimization, data analysis)
• Hands-on cell culture, transfection, and cell-based assays
• Entrepreneurial/proactive problem-solving attitude; strong willingness to learn
• Exceptionally self-motivated and able to work independently with teamwork
• Excellent organizational and communication skills

Nice To Have (Not Required)

• Flow cytometry; NGS workflows (library construction); high throughput screens
• Protein purification and enzymatic assays

Where You’ll Work / Travel / Pay

Bridgewater, NJ (full-time, in-person). Minimal travel expected. Pay range: $103,000–$131,000 annual.
