Eli Lilly and Company’s Synthetic Molecule Design and Development (SMDD) seeks a seasoned scientist in synthetic process chemistry to lead peptide process development. The role centers on LPPS-based production of complex peptides like those in Lilly’s portfolio, with a strong emphasis on green chemistry and scalable manufacturing.

The candidate will guide a multidisciplinary team, collaborate with global partners, and drive end-to-end development from discovery through commercialization,

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry with 7+ years in peptide or synthetic process chemistry.
• Leadership and experience managing scientists and cross-functional teams.
• Experience with SPPS/LPPS and scale-up in peptide synthesis.
• Strong record of external publications and conference presentations.

Responsabilités

• Provide technical direction on LPPS and condensation chemistry development.
• Lead and mentor a team of peptide chemists across programs.
• Coordinate tech transfer of early-phase processes to Medicines Foundry (Lebanon, IN).
• Educate and guide CMOs on greener peptide development and manufacture.
• Drive continuous improvement in scientific processes and sustainability.
• Publish findings and present at internal and external venues.
