Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure on-site administration and execution of the district's educational programs, policies, and regulations, and deliver quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's instructional curriculum program, with documented evidence of preparation.
  2. Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  5. Implement a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed by law or district policy.
  6. Evaluate and record students’ progress regularly and communicate reports to parents as needed.
  7. Teach the prescribed course of study appropriate for the subject area and grade level.
  8. Plan lessons aligned with subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
  9. Use a variety of media and methods to motivate students and utilize instruction time effectively.
  10. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Offer counseling to students and parents before and after school hours.
  12. Participate in community engagement activities such as open house and PTA meetings to interpret educational programs.
  13. Coordinate work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Contribute to the development of evaluation and assessment systems in collaboration with the principal.
  15. Maintain accurate student records and complete all required reports and documentation.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear. Frequently reach with hands and arms. Occasionally stand and walk. Must routinely lift/move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment:

The noise level is usually moderate. Travel within the district is required. Remote work is not an option for campus-based roles due to the necessity of regular attendance at the worksite.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject and level
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to follow specific instructions with minimal prior experience
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environments
