Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure on-site administration, implementation of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  5. Establish a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed by state law or district policies.
  6. Continuously evaluate and record students’ progress and report to parents as needed and required.
  7. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject area and grade level.
  8. Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
  9. Provide a variety of planned learning experiences using multiple media and methods to motivate students and optimize instruction time.
  10. Identify student needs and collaborate with professional staff to assess and address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Be available for counseling students and parents before and after school.
  12. Participate in community engagement activities such as open houses and PTA meetings to interpret educational programs.
  13. Coordinate work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable.
  14. Work with the principal to develop evaluation and assessment systems in line with district guidelines.
  15. Maintain accurate records of student information and complete all required reports and documentation.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical Demands:

Requires sitting, handling objects, talking, hearing, reaching, standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment:

Moderate noise level. District-wide travel is required. Remote work is not an option for campus-based employees, as regular attendance and duties at the worksite are essential.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject and level
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to follow instructions with minimal prior experience
  • Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Willingness to stay current with professional developments
