Summary

The Special Education Teacher is a state-certified educator responsible for providing daily instruction and support in a virtual academic environment. The teacher develops strategies to engage students, serves as a case manager and contact for students and parents, and monitors academic progress to help meet student learning objectives.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and facilitate IEP and eligibility meetings
  • Collaborate with instructional staff to review student data
  • Communicate IEP service changes
  • Serve as a point of contact for academic needs and accommodations
  • Administer assessments and monitor student progress
  • Maintain documentation and compliance with policies
  • Create a conducive virtual classroom environment
  • Implement IEP services and accommodations with fidelity
  • Use research-based strategies to engage students
  • Complete case management and instructional duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field, with at least 1 year of experience as a special education teacher or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should have strong skills in data collection, differentiation, and instructional strategies, along with effective communication, time management, and knowledge of IDEA and GADOE guidelines.

Certifications and Licenses
