Description

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Assist and support the building principal to ensure on-site administration, implementation of the district's educational programs, policies, regulations, and delivery of quality instruction in a safe and healthy environment.

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements, with documented evidence of preparation.
  2. Prepare lessons that accommodate different student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter following guidelines set by the Texas Education Agency, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  5. Develop and implement student evaluation systems within legal and district guidelines.
  6. Continuously evaluate and record student progress, reporting as required to parents.
  7. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the grade level and subject area.
  8. Plan lessons aligned with subject objectives and prepare substitute lesson plans.
  9. Use diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
  10. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning issues.
  11. Be available for counseling students and parents outside of class hours.
  12. Participate in community engagement activities, such as open houses and PTA meetings, to interpret educational programs.
  13. Coordinate work with aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers as applicable.
  14. Collaborate with the principal to develop evaluation and assessment systems per district guidelines.
  15. Maintain accurate records of student information and complete all required reports and documentation.
  16. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally stand and walk; routinely lift/move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The environment typically has moderate noise levels. Travel within the district is required. Remote work is not an option for campus-based roles, as attendance at the worksite is essential.

Qualifications
