Job summary

Uncommon Schools is seeking a School Social Worker to provide direct services within our Newark network. You will perform crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, and family referrals to enhance student success and attendance.

The role includes coordinating with the Child Study Team and developing social-emotional curricula aligned to school goals. Candidates should hold a Master’s in Social Work with LMSW licensure and NJDOE School Social Worker Certification, with urban school

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work with LMSW licensure is required.
• Valid School Social Worker Certification from NJDOE is required.
• Experience working in urban schools is highly preferred.
• Belief in Uncommon’s core beliefs and educational philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Case Manager and member of the Child Study Team.
• Support and involve families to strengthen home–school partnerships.
• Plan school-based interventions with educators to address student needs.
• Collaborate with community agencies for additional resources.
• Assist students and families with learning, behavior, and attendance concerns.
• Evaluate students considering family history, socioeconomics, and culture.
