Job summary

Uncommon Schools is a nonprofit network of high-performing public charter schools focused on closing the college completion gap. We seek a School Social Worker to provide crisis intervention, counseling, and case management within Newark and surrounding communities.

You will collaborate with educators and families, lead interventions, and participate in ongoing professional development to support student success and equity in education.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work with LMSW licensure required.
• NJDOE School Social Worker Certification required.
• Experience in or commitment to urban school settings preferred.
• Belief in and alignment with Uncommon’s core beliefs and educational philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services including crisis intervention and counseling to students and families.
• Serve as Case Manager and member of the Child Study Team.
• Develop and implement school-based social-emotional curricula and interventions.
• Coordinate with community agencies to connect families with resources.
• Engage with staff, families, and students to strengthen home–school–community partnerships.
