Job summary

The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) seeks a part-time Security Assistant at La Follette, 0.5 FTE, with a $28.72 hourly wage. The position supports school principals to provide a safe learning environment and coordinates with the Madison Police Department and other agencies.

Responsibilities include maintaining order, reporting incidents, first aid, crisis intervention, and supervision at events; it requires CPR/AED, the ability to work under stress, and the capacity to write clear

Qualifications

• Must be highly competent and committed to student safety.
• Able to work under stress and to react appropriately in emergencies.
• Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to improving cultural competence.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical.
• Must pass a comprehensive background check.
• Must be able to write accurate and complete reports.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and insured vehicle.
• Training and experience related to crisis intervention and emergency medical procedures.
• CPR/AED certification required.
• Experience working with middle and high school age youth.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and utilize crisis intervention techniques to control situations.
• Investigate incidents and cooperate with law enforcement personnel.
• Document incidents and maintain daily logs.
• Render First Aid as needed.
• Intervene in altercations to maintain safety.
• Participate in emergencies such as fire, evacuation, lockdown and tornado drills.
• Testify at hearings as needed.
• Provide guidance to students regarding support services.
• Coordinate with district police and other agencies.
• Compile and summarize monthly and year-to-date reports.
• Patrol parking lots, grounds, hallways and other areas as directed.
• Operate and understand security equipment with Principals and Security Coordinator.
• Perform other duties to ensure a safe school environment.
