Job summary

The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) in Madison, Wisconsin is seeking a dedicated Special Education Assistant to support students with disabilities across 4K-12. Under supervision of teachers and staff, you will assist with instructional support, daily living tasks, behavior support, and supervision during meals, transitions, and trips.

Qualifications include an Associate’s Degree or 48 college credits; pass an onsite assessment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required or 48 college credits beyond high school.
• Onsite assessment may be used in lieu of one requirement.
• Experience with special education and collaboration with licensed professionals is valued.

Responsibilities

• Instructional support and academic assistance across 4K-12.
• Early childhood support and classroom play-based learning.
• On-site job coaching at community work-sites (18-21 transition).
• Positive behavior support and safety supervision during lunch, recess, and transitions.
• Prepare adapted materials and ensure access to content at each student’s level.
• Maintain confidentiality and FERPA/HIPAA compliance.
