AERRC is seeking a school safety assistant to monitor discipline and safety around the campus, working with leadership to address emergencies and high-risk situations. You will collaborate with staff to prevent incidents and intervene as needed while assisting with light building maintenance.

The role emphasizes reliable, calm intervention with students and a commitment to maintaining a secure school environment while supporting daily operations.

Qualifications

• Must meet at least one of: diploma + ParaProfessional Assessment within four months of hire; or an associate's degree or higher; or completion of two years of higher education (48 semester hours).
• Typing skills required with a minimum of 35 words per minute.
• Must have knowledge and experience with computers, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and familiarity with library catalogs/systems.
• Must demonstrate successful experience working with secondary students, coping with interruptions and shifting priorities.

Job Summary: The school safety assistant's primary duty is to monitor and maintain discipline among students in and around the school campus. Ensures and maintains the security and safety of the building, staff, students, and other personnel. Works directly with building administration to effectively respond to emergency and/or high-risk situations. Works directly with students to prevent and/or intervene in potentially violent situations. May also assist in daily minor maintenance of the building

New Hire Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 7: $23.15 - $25.90 DOE

Internal Hourly Rate: Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement

Work Hours: 7.5 hours per day

Work Year: 9 months

Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)

Job Qualifications/Requirements

1. Must meet at least one of the following three qualifications:
   1. A high school diploma, or equivalent, and have completed the ParaProfessional Assessment, or have the ability to pass the ParaProfessional Assessment within four (4) months of hire; or
   2. An associate's degree or higher; or
   3. Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or the equivalent

3. Must have knowledge and experience working with computers, computer software including word processing, spreadsheetsand databases, and familiarity with library catalog and classification systems.
4. Must demonstrate successful experience working with secondary students, coping with continual interruptions, and shifting job priorities.
