Job summary

K12northstar is seeking a paraprofessional to assist in the care, instruction and support of elementary students with diverse needs across programs (IR/ER/PK or integrated settings). The role involves helping students physically, socially and developmentally, and delivering tutoring support as required.

The position is a part of the ESSA unit with a standard 7-hour workday and a 9-month school year. New hires may receive a $2,000 sign-on bonus and a $1,000 retention bonus payable in June;

Qualifications

• Must meet at least one: high school diploma or equivalent and PASS WorkKeys/ParaPro within 4 months; or associate's degree or higher; or 48 semester hours completed.
• Demonstrated ability to lift and assist students safely.
• Understanding of developmental disabilities and empathy for students with special needs.
• Tutoring skills appropriate to assigned students.
• Completion of de-escalation/crisis intervention training, including physical restraint, as required.
• If posting lists signing skills, must have completed ASL I and ASL II.

Job description

This position includes a $2,000 new hire bonus, which is paid after the successful completion of the first 30 working days of employment.

This position also offers a $1,000 retention bonus, payable in June upon the successful completion of the current school year. Please note that this bonus will be prorated for part-time employees.

Job Summary

Assists in the care, instruction, and support of elementary students (PreK through grade 5, or through grade 8 at applicable campuses) with physical, social-emotional, behavioral, self-help, and/or developmental needs. Positions may be assigned to Intensive Resource (IR) rooms, Extended Resource (ER) rooms, Preschool (PK) classrooms, or integrated general education settings, based on district and building needs.

Grade 7: $23.15 - $25.90DOE
