Job summary

The classroom tutor provides academic development support to students in small groups or one-on-one settings and supports classroom teachers on issues and strategies for working with disadvantaged children to meet district curriculum goals and student needs.

This role involves working 7 hours per day during a 9-month school year, aligned with ESSA bargaining unit guidelines and offering a comprehensive benefits package including sick leave, holidays, medical/dental/vision, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• This position requires meeting at least one of the stated educational qualifications.
• Experience with record keeping and implementing academic plans is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of high school level math, reading, English, social studies, and science.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring in small groups or one-on-one to support academic development.
• Assist classroom teachers with strategies for disadvantaged students to meet curriculum goals.
• Support the delivery of district-wide educational objectives.
• Collaborate with staff to plan and deliver targeted academic programs.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent & ParaProfessional Assessment / pass within 4 months

Associate's degree or higher

Two years of higher education (48 semester hours) or equivalent

: Grade 6: $21.60 - $24.14 DOE

Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):

1. Must meet at least one of the following three qualifications:
2. • A high school diploma, or equivalent, and have completed the ParaProfessional Assessment, or have the ability to pass the ParaProfessional Assessment within four (4) months of hire; or
   • An associate's degree or higher; or
   • Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or the equivalent
3. Work experience demonstrating an ability to maintain accurate records and implement plans.
4. Knowledge of high school level math, reading, English, social studies, and science.
5. Proven proficiency in oral and written communication skills in English.
6. Ability to relate and work successfully with students and adults and ability to work as a team in developing and delivering academic programs for students.
