Job summary

State of Georgia is seeking a School Resource Officer for Gainesville RYDC in Gainesville, GA. The role focuses on maintaining security and order within a detention facility education setting and requires professional law enforcement duties.

Responsibilities include classroom walkthroughs, addressing student conduct, coordinating safety drills, and liaising with education and probation staff to support student success initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and successful completion of Basic Mandate Law Enforcement Training.
• GA POST certified peace officer (PBLE) in good standing.
• Current GAPOST profile with PBLE number attached.
• Physical agility standards may apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of law enforcement duties to maintain security and order in a detention facility educational setting.
• Provide security clearance for students entering secure areas.
• Regularly conduct walkthroughs of classrooms, hallways, and offices.
• Address disruptive or improperly dressed students and attendance issues.
• Facilitate safety drills as required.
• Inspect areas for contraband and safety breaches after movements.
• Monitor security equipment and report issues.
• Meet with supervisors and staff to coordinate student involvement.
• Plan weekly student success meetings and coordinate monthly parent meetings.
