The IPS School Police Department plays a vital role in maintaining school safety by providing rapid and effective emergency response, monitoring security systems, and coordinating communication between officers and school personnel.

IPS is looking for dedicated, detail-oriented individuals to join our team as School Police Dispatchers. This role requires strong multitasking abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. ROLE(S) - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - REQUIREMENTS

School Police Dispatcher

Summary: School Police Dispatchers serve as the central communication hub for the IPS School Police Department. They handle emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinate officer response, monitor security systems, and ensure accurate record-keeping.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls.
  • Dispatch IPS police officers and coordinate response efforts.
  • Monitor school security systems, including alarms and surveillance cameras.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed communication logs and records.
  • Utilize multi-line phone systems and two-way radios for communication.
  • Provide clear and concise information to officers, school staff, and emergency responders.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and data entry as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in dispatch, emergency communication, customer service, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with multi-line phone systems, computer databases, and dispatch software is a plus.
  • Must be able to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
