Job summary

Cherokee County School District - GA is hiring for a School Nutrition position responsible for preparing, cooking and serving nutritionally adequate meals to students, staff and visitors. The role adheres to Health Department requirements and meal accountability procedures, including cashiering when needed.

The successful candidate will work under the School Nutrition Manager and Principal, with duties ranging from following production schedules to equipment cleaning and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of state approved High School Equivalency (HSE) Testing Program.
• ONE course for Nutrition Employees (ONE) within first year of employment.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and understand and follow directions.
• Must possess or be willing to learn skills needed to operate food preparation equipment and perform necessary cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of various foods for cooking and serving.
• Follow daily production schedules, including preparing recipes as written.
• Use portion control to equally portion all foods.
• Implement state/local health codes as they relate to food service.
• Follow all safety regulations.
• Wash dishes and store them properly.
• Sweep and clean kitchen floors.
• Serve on the serving line.
• Adhere to all meal accountability procedures including cashiering.
• Follow appropriate dress codes to represent school nutrition in a professional manner.
• Clean equipment, kitchen and dining tables, as needed.
• Utilize and maintain equipment as trained and report faulty equipment to School Nutrition Manager.
• Assist with receiving USDA commodities and purchased foods.
• Assist with receiving, unloading and storage of all foods and supplies in cooler, freezer and dry storage areas.
• Communicate effectively and promotes good public relations with students, teachers, administrators and the community.
