Job summary

Cherokee County School District - GA is seeking a qualified leader to direct the School Nutrition Program across the district. The role emphasizes high-quality, nutritious meals, cost-effective operations, and compliance with federal, state and local standards.

The Director will supervise staff, oversee budgets, partner with principals, vendors and central office, and drive program improvements while maintaining professional standards and strong community engagement.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Georgia Clear Renewable School Nutrition Director certificate issued by GPSC (Master’s Degree or higher) or an Induction Certificate (Bachelor’s Degree or higher) and convert within 3 years.
• Degree in food and nutrition, business administration, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts or related field.
• Supervisory experience in school nutrition, hospital dietetics or home economics teaching.
• Ability to establish good working relationships with principals, teachers, school nutrition staff, central office personnel and vendors.
• Strong organizational and leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Establish goals for each School Nutrition Program, monitor progress and evaluate effectiveness.
• Plan, develop and coordinate standards and policies for the School Nutrition Program per requirements.
• Supervise, evaluate and provide professional development and training for staff.
• Consult with department heads and principals on all aspects of the School Nutrition Program.
• Produce, administer and maintain the School Nutrition Program budget.
• Oversee planning, layout of new and renovated kitchens and cafeterias for cost efficiency.
