Job summary

Cherokee County School District - GA is seeking a School Nutrition Worker to prepare, cook, and serve nutritionally adequate meals to students, staff and visitors in accordance with approved food service procedures and Health Department requirements.

You will follow daily production schedules, read recipes, and apply portion control, safety, and cleanliness standards while assisting with receiving and storage of foods and supplies.

Qualifications

• Standard high school diploma or state approved HSE.
• Food service experience preferred but not required.
• ONE course within first year of employment.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and directions.
• Willingness to learn to operate food prep equipment and perform cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of various foods for cooking and serving.
• Follow daily production schedules, including preparing recipes as written.
• Use portion control to evenly portion all foods.
• Implement state/local health codes related to food service.
• Follow all safety regulations.
• Wash dishes and store them properly.
• Sweep and clean kitchen floors.
• Serve on the serving line.
• Adhere to all meal accountability procedures including cashiering.
• Follow appropriate dress codes to represent school nutrition professionally.
• Clean equipment, kitchen and dining tables as needed.
• Maintain equipment and report faults.
• Assist with receiving USDA commodities and purchased foods.
• Assist with receiving, unloading and storage of foods and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, admins and the community.
• Participate in required training including ONE course within first year.
• Perform average lifting up to 50 pounds.
