Job summary

Long Beach Unified School District in Long Beach, CA is seeking a motivated Food Service Substitute to assist in meal preparation, packaging and serving at a school site or central kitchen. You will help maintain clean facilities and equipment, assist with stock rotation, and operate a POS system.

The role requires basic math, cashiering abilities, and good interpersonal communication. Completion of the eighth grade is requested; substitute employees are paid hourly, on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

• Completion of the eighth grade or equivalent.
• Basic math and cashiering abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in quantity preparation, packaging and serving of hot and cold menu items.
• Maintain nutrition service facilities and equipment in a clean, sanitary condition.
• Assist with stocking, rotating and inventory of food and supplies.
• Operate a computerized point of sale system and handle cash and tickets.
• Set up serving windows, pans, utensils and trays for meals.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
