Job summary

New Bedford Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Director of Food Services to support the Food Service Director in managing the district's nutritional services program. Qualifications

• Four years of culinary or institutional food service experience preferred.
• Two years of dietetics, nutrition, school nutrition, culinary nutrition, or related experience.
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential preferred.
• ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
• Valid Driver’s License and Evidence of Insurability.
• Experience with nutrient analysis, nutritional evaluation of menus and recipes, and recipe development.
• Experience with pre-K through 12 school nutrition compliance and USDA meal programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with management of Food Service Department operations to support high-quality nutritional services.
• Develop and update district breakfast and lunch menus.
• Conduct nutrient analyses of menus and recipes.
• Provide nutritional guidance to staff on portion control and substitutions.
• Develop and evaluate recipes for cost, yield and quality.
• Coordinate student taste tests and gather feedback.
• Ensure compliance with USDA and Massachusetts nutrition requirements.
• Support procurement, inventory, and equipment needs.
• Prepare reports and maintain program documentation.
