Somerville Public Schools is seeking a Director of Food & Nutrition Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for district meals, ensuring high-quality, nutritious, culturally responsive meals for all students.

You will oversee daily operations, budgeting, procurement, menu planning, and compliance with USDA/DESE standards, while guiding staff development and cross-sector collaboration to improve participation and service across schools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, food service management, business administration, public administration, hospitality management, or related field.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in food service or related operations.
• Experience supervising large-scale or multi-site food production and service operations.
• Knowledge of budgeting, procurement, purchasing, and operational systems.
• Experience with K–12 school nutrition or public-sector food service preferred.
• Current food protection/safety/sanitation certification or ability to obtain certification.
• RD, School Nutrition Director, or similar credential preferred.
• Commitment to equitable access to nutritious meals and diverse student populations.

Responsabilités

• Provide districtwide leadership and strategic direction for all Food & Nutrition Services programs.
• Oversee planning and operation of school meal programs, including breakfast, lunch, and summer meals.
• Develop menus that meet nutritional standards and student needs.
• Manage food production, procurement, distribution, and service across district schools.
• Lead financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management.
• Ensure compliance with USDA, state, and local requirements and lead audits.
• Recruit, develop, and supervise FNS staff and establish accountability systems.
• Collaborate with school leaders, families, and community partners to improve participation and service quality.
