Job summary

Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School in Worcester, MA, seeks an Assistant Director of Nutrition to support the Director in running the school’s food service program. The role oversees food prep, inventory, NSLP compliance, and staff management in a 40-hour, 10-month, non-exempt setting.

The position requires experience in quantity food service production, some supervisory background, and ServSafe certification within six months.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Minimum of three years of experience in quantity food service production.
At least one year of supervisory experience is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive/Google Suite.
Experience in school nutrition or related field is highly desirable.
Must be ServSafe certified within 6 months of hire.
Strong planning and project management skills with the ability to maintain records.
Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

Assist the Director of Nutritional Services in ensuring NSLP compliance and safety standards.
Prepare and cook large quantities to meet quality standards and timelines.
Maintain inventory, NOI/FFS, and collaborative bidding records.
Assist with department coverage during employee absences.
Attend meetings and collaborate with staff, parents, and the community.
Supervise staff and ensure cleanliness and safety in the kitchen.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nutritional Services.
Adhere to school policies in partnership with HR and leadership.
