Job summary

Whitsons Culinary Group is hiring an Assistant Food Service Manager to support daily operations across multiple school kitchens. You will help lead teams, ensure compliance with NSLP and local health codes, and deliver nutritious meals that support student success.

This full-time, on-site role emphasizes hands-on leadership, scheduling, budgeting support, and training, with a strong focus on food safety, operations excellence, and a positive kitchen culture in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with concentration in food/nutrition or related field.
• Associates degree plus one year school nutrition experience is acceptable.
• Five years in school nutrition with strong leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple school kitchens.
• Lead a team to prepare and serve nutritious meals to students.
• Assist with scheduling, inventory, food safety and compliance with USDA NSLP programs.
• Train and mentor staff and maintain a positive kitchen culture.
• Monitor budgets and help manage costs; audits and inspections readiness.
• On-site presence in schools for daily operational support.
