Job summary

Richland County School District One is seeking a Food Service Operator I to prepare and serve student breakfasts and lunches at assigned schools in Columbia, SC. You will follow established procedures, maintain cleanliness, and report to the Manager of Student Nutrition Services.

The role includes cooking, setting up serving lines, inspecting deliveries, and occasional cashier duties, with a 2-hour daily shift and an hourly wage of $12.76–$18.75.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required, plus six months of food prep experience.
• Must obtain food safety certification within 6 months (ServSafe or HACCP).
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items for student meals as scheduled.
• Set up serving lines and maintain cleanliness of serving area.
• Inspect daily deliveries for quantity and quality.
• Operate a variety of kitchen equipment safely.
• Assist cashier duties when needed.
• Assemble bag lunches for field trips.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and eating areas.
