Job summary

Harford County Public Schools invites applications for a Satellite Kitchen Assistant (6 hours) at Hickory Elementary School on-site in Bel Air, MD. This role supports Food and Nutrition Services at the satellite school and serves as a liaison with the production school.

Responsibilities include receiving and handling food and equipment, supervising staff, managing inventories, assisting with meal promotions, maintaining sanitation, and completing daily cash and reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Satisfactory completion of training for kitchen assistant position.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Meets health department’s personal hygiene standards.
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills.
• Physically able to perform the essential functions including lifting up to 40 pounds.
• May be required to hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Receive and handle incoming food and equipment; check quality, quantity, temperatures, and condition on arrival.
• Inform the manager of progress, problems, or needs of the satellite kitchen.
• Place selected food orders; inform the manager of food and supply needs.
• Assist in training and directing other Food and Nutrition Services workers at the satellite kitchen.
• Maintain daily and annual inventories of food, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist in planning and participating in meal promotions.
• Ensure food quality, portion control, and compliance with standards.
• Handle daily participation reports, cash reconciliation, and deposits.
