Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking a Satellite Kitchen Assistant for a 6-hour shift at William S. James Elementary School. The role includes receiving and handling food and equipment, managing inventory, POS accountability, and assisting in meal promotions and training of staff.

It requires adherence to health and sanitation standards and strong teamwork with students and staff. The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, be able to lift up to 40 pounds, follow instructions,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Complete training for the kitchen assistant position.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Meets health department personal hygiene standards.
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills.
• Physically able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• May be required to hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Receive and handle incoming food and equipment, check quality and temperature.
• Inform the manager of progress, problems or needs of the satellite kitchen.
• Place selected food orders and inform manager of supplies.
• Assist in training and directing other staff at the satellite kitchen.
• Maintain POS computer accountability.
• Follow health department procedures and manager instructions.
• Maintain sanitation per Health Department standards and procedures.
• Maintain positive relations with students, faculty, staff and parents.
• Complete daily and annual inventories of food, equipment, supplies and cleaning items.
• Assist in meal promotions and planning.
• Ensure food quality and portion control meet standards.
• Handle daily participation reports, cash reconciliation and deposits.
• Attend required training classes and workshops.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
