Job summary

Edgewood Elementary in Vancouver, WA seeks a Cafeteria Assistant to support daily breakfast and lunch service. The role involves food prep, serving meals, and helping the kitchen team while following HACCP standards.

Flexibility to work in various kitchen settings and potential substitution for cooks or managers is required. The position requires reliable attendance, teamwork, good organizational and communication skills, and the ability to lift items as needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated successful experience as a VPS kitchen substitute.
• At least 12 months experience cooking in any foodservice establishment within the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping fruits and vegetables.
• Serve and count meals at point-of-service.
• Assist cook or manager and handle cleanup tasks.
• Maintain HACCP procedures and safe food handling.
• Operate computer to respond to emails and access production records/recipe database.
• May substitute for cook or manager when needed.
• May work in different buildings or satellite kitchens.
