Job summary

Orting School District in Washington state seeks a Food Service Assistant to support daily kitchen operations and meal service for students. You will help with meal preparation, cleanliness, inventory, and records while ensuring food safety standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a current food handlers card, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work hours are 6.50 per day, 180 days, 5:30 am–12:30 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous school food service experience in quantity cooking preferred.
• Possess a current food handlers card.
• May be required to have a valid State of Washington Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Operates daily school kitchen operations to support food service.
• Preps ingredients, cleans, chops, cooks, defrosts, restocks for weekly menu.
• Maintains production details, temperature logs, inventory, and cash reports.
• Cleans and sanitizes kitchen utensils, equipment, and dishes.
• Labels and dates items using FIFO for proper storage.
• Handles kitchen laundry, takes out trash, maintains cleanliness of equipment.
• Monitors daily produce inventory and orders as needed to meet demand.
• Works as cashier and processes customer transactions as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties as requested.
