Baystate Academy Charter Public School in Springfield, MA is seeking a School Nurse to provide direct and indirect nursing care, promote student health and safety, and support academic success for grades 6–12.

The nurse collaborates with families, physicians, and school staff, maintains HIPAA/FERPA compliance, and keeps DESE/DPH certifications current; a Bachelor of Nursing, MA RN license, CPR and First Aid certifications, and two years of pediatric or school health experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
• A minimum of two years of child health, community health or other relevant clinical nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care to enhance student well-being and academic success.
• Assist with planning and implementing care plans with input from students and families.
• Administer prescribed and approved medications with parent/guardian consent.
• Perform mandated screenings in vision, hearing, scoliosis, and height/weight as appropriate.
• Maintain HIPAA and FERPA compliant documentation in student records.
• Collaborate with school staff and community providers to ensure quality care.
• Promote health programs in collaboration with coalitions and public health entities.
• Stay current with DESE and DPH certifications and best practices.
