Job summary

The Stepping Stones Group in Vista, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a contracted, school-based placement in the 26/27 school year. This full-time position supports a local K-12 district with private duty/1:1 nursing services.

You’ll work with experienced clinicians, receive clinical backing, and access a dedicated clinical team that understands school-based nursing. This role offers consistent pay and strong professional support.

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California.
• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program.
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification.
• Demonstrated competency in student-specific skills (SFS, PT, MA, TRA, etc.).
• Ability to work independently in a non-clinical environment.
• Experience working with Pediatric population.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous observation of assigned student throughout the school day.
• Implement and monitor student health plans.
• Accompany student during transportation and community-based activities when assigned.
• Communicate significant status changes to family, school staff, and clinical leadership.
• Provide first aid, daily medical care, and emergency support.
• Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Active RN license valid in California
• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification
• Demonstrated competency in the specific skills required for the assigned student including:

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families, therapists, and healthcare providers
• Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Prior school-based experience highly preferred
