School Lunch Substitute: Food Service Associate

Job summary

McLean County Unit District No. 5 is seeking a Substitute Food Service Worker to support school lunch programs across all schools. Immediate availability is preferred as this is a substitute/temporary role within the Operations department.

The role reports to the Food Service Manager and requires following health, safety and nutritional guidelines while maintaining a clean and friendly service atmosphere for students and staff alike.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of proper methods of cooking, serving, food care and equipment used in kitchen.
• Ability to communicate, follow written and oral instructions and work well with others.
• Refer to Functional Job Analysis for physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food according to the menu and all county health sanitary and nutritional guidelines.
• Clean facility, trays and dishes according to all sanitary guidelines.
• Interact in a friendly, professional manner with all students, co-workers and staff while performing food service duties.
• Prepare foods using standardized recipes and methods to retain nutritive values.
• Prepare food for delivery to other schools.
• Maintain accurate records and report information in a timely manner.
• May be expected to enter payment information accurately into proper accounts.
• May be expected to prepare accurate and balanced deposits for the bank.
• May be expected to travel to the bank to make deposits.
• Set up, restock and store food and food service items as needed.
• Perform any additional duties as requested by the Food Service Manager or Principal.
