Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily lunch service and ensure proper sanitation in a school kitchen. You will set up and clean serving areas, assist with meal preparation, and operate the POS system under HACCP guidelines.

You will interact with students, staff, and parents, follow USDA training hours, and travel among schools as needed. A High School diploma is required and the role offers part-time hours with benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to support food service operations.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely following HACCP standards.
• Must be able to travel between multiple schools as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in set up and cleanup of serving areas for timely service to students and ensure proper sanitation.
• Serve meals daily while complying with HACCP and health department standards.
• Unloading and proper storage of delivered food items; follow safety precautions.
• Learn and operate Point of Sale system; reconcile monies daily for accuracy.
• Foster positive relationships with staff, students, and parents; deliver courteous service.
• Comply with USDA training requirements and district regulations; support ongoing training.
• Perform other duties as assigned; travel to multiple schools as needed.
