Job summary

Pitt County Schools Farmville Middle School seeks a School Library Media Coordinator to lead the library program, manage resources, and support student learning. The role involves coordinating staff, developing digital learning environments, and aligning practices with state standards.

Responsibilities include promoting literacy, supporting professional learning communities, and fostering equitable access to information.

Qualifications

• Certification: Must hold a valid Professional Educator License as a Media Coordinator at the Master Level or be eligible for a provisional Media Coordinator License.
• Provisional license requires at minimum a bachelor level teaching license OR a bachelor degree in media OR completion of 18 graduate semester hours toward a school media coordinator program.
• A provisional license holder must affiliate with a college/university with an approved School Media Coordinator program and pass Praxis II by end of coursework.
• All requirements for a provisional license must be completed within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Collaboratively creates, aligns and implements a program informed by state and national guidelines and research-based best practices.
• Provides leadership in collaboratively planning, promoting, and sustaining the school library media program, services, and resources.
• Establishes the library media center as both a physical and virtual shared space, open, equitable and accessible for knowledge construction, collaboration and inquiry-based learning.
• Provides leadership in creating digital age learning environments.
• Participates in the recruitment/hiring process and/or mentoring of school-based educators.
• Works collaboratively with school personnel for planning, to create professional learning communities, and to integrate information and instructional technology into all curricular areas.
