Job summary

Wayne County Public Schools seeks a Media Coordinator to lead the school library media program and provide instructional resources that support a student-centered educational process.

The role reports to the Principal and requires a Master's in Library Science or NC licensure; responsibilities include organizing facilities, planning, collaboration, and promoting reading and information literacy.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science or the equivalent for licensure as a school library media coordinator by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
• Possession of licensure as a school library media coordinator per NC DPI requirements.

Responsibilities

• Follow all rules, policies and procedures of Wayne County Public Schools, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school/media issues.
• Organize school library media facilities and resources to maximize access and support school goals.
• Design and implement short and long range plans balancing teaching, instructional technology, collaboration, and program management.
• Assess learning and informational needs of students and staff; plan with teachers.
• Instruct students and staff in effective use of information and reading, promoting lifelong learning.
• Lead collaboration to select resources addressing curricular needs and learning goals.
• Maintain inventories of print, nonprint and technology materials; evaluate program performance.
• Collaborate with other libraries/agencies to share resources and interact with stakeholders.
