Job summary

Douglas County High School in the Douglas County School District seeks a Library Assistant to support the Library Media Center's daily operations, promote literacy, assist students and staff, and help manage the library's collection and digital resources.

The ideal candidate will handle shelving, interlibrary loans, inventory, training of student aides, and ensure policy compliance while delivering friendly, reliable service in a busy school environment.

Qualifications

• High School or Equivalent (Required).
• Ability to use Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs.
• Basic library management knowledge preferred (Destiny and Dewey Decimal System).
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support positive outcomes.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Enjoys reading and willing to read; comfortable reading aloud to students.
• Observes District policies and procedures; strong customer service skills.
• Verbal and written English communication; able to read and comprehend instructions.

Responsibilities

• Organize and reshelve returned items.
• Manage loans between DCSD school libraries (ILL loans).
• Maintain and repair library materials.
• Manage and catalog materials using Destiny.
• Follow the DCSD media policy and board policies pertaining to the library.
• Assist students and staff when using print and/or DCSD digital resources.
• Perform routine tasks such as answering phone calls, maintaining a clean and organized library environment.
• Help plan and participate in special library/literacy events.
• Assist with record-keeping for all library resources, including full inventories at least every two years.
• Assist in training, scheduling, and management of student aides and community volunteers.
• Perform other library related duties as assigned.
• Attend District trainings pertaining to Destiny, databases and digital resources, collection development, weeding, purchasing, etc.
• Loan library materials to students, staff, and DCSD patrons.
• Process returned materials such as books, textbooks, and other resources.
