Job summary

Washington County Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Assistant for Springfield Middle School. The role supports the school’s nutrition services with meal preparation, serving, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.

The position requires cooperative work, adherence to health and safety standards, and the ability to handle a busy, noisy kitchen. Training and certification in Serv-Safe is encouraged, with eligibility to work across base sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work cooperatively with others and accept direction.
• Must demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
• Ability to meet physical requirements including standing, lifting, and moving heavy objects.
• Serv-Safe Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment and maintain current.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or assist in preparing food as assigned.
• Complete clean-up and dishwashing duties as assigned.
• Report food supply needs to the Site Supervisor.
• Serve food to students and adults using portion control standards.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and properly.
• Assist with any phase of kitchen operations.
• Operate computerized cash register system.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and special dietary needs regulations.
• Attend mandatory program training.
