Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a kitchen helper to assist in cooking and baking under the Kitchen Manager. Duties include preparing nutritious meals, serving, and assisting in cleanup, while maintaining records and promoting nutrition.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of food prep experience, basic menu-planning skills, and the ability to work with staff in a fast-paced school kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in commercial or institutional food preparation.
• Able to utilize fundamentals of meal preparation.
• Ability to plan menus and adjust recipes.
• Competent in completing and maintaining records as requested.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve attractive, high quality, nutritious meals following standardized procedures.
• Lead assigned staff in meal preparation, serving and cleanup.
• Comply with approved safety and sanitation procedures.
• Maintain required daily records and reports and submit to Kitchen Manager.
• Promote Culinary Services programs to increase meal participation.
