Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a kitchen assistant/satellite server to support nutritious meals under the Kitchen Manager. This role emphasizes following standardized procedures, serving high quality meals, and maintaining accurate records in a busy cafeteria environment.

You will assist in meal preparation, help with inventories, promote nutrition, and ensure safety and sanitation standards are met while working with staff and students.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in commercial or institutional food preparation.
• Ability to plan menus and adjust recipes.
• Competency to complete and maintain all records as requested and substitute as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high quality, nutritious meals following procedures.
• Complete tasks within the time allocated.
• Comply with safety and sanitation procedures.
• Assist in cleaning kitchen, equipment, tables and storeroom; report malfunctions.
• Maintain appropriate food and supply inventories.
• May direct or assist staff in meal preparation to handle emergencies.
• Maintain daily records and reports for Kitchen Manager.
• Collect money and account for meals served.
• Maintain plate count for meals served.
• Promote Culinary Services programs to increase meal participation.
• Assist staff in promoting proper nutrition.
• Establish cooperative working relations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
