Job summary

Genesee Lake School is seeking a dependable Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation and service for students and staff, following established dietary plans and food safety protocols in our school cafeteria.

This part-time, casual role offers company-paid training, ServSafe certification if needed, weekend availability, and access to a benefits program for eligible staff; join a mission-driven team at GLS, a MyPath Company.

Qualifications

• Calm, effective demeanor in emergencies and stressful situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow recipes, food safety procedures, and kitchen protocols.
• Comfortable working in hot and cold environments (ovens, freezers).

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and serving meals aligned with daily menus.
• Support the Cook for special meals for events (birthdays, holidays, off-site activities).
• Stay current with student food allergies and dietary needs; comply with gluten-free/dairy-free guidelines.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures and proper handwashing.
• Clean and sanitize prep areas, equipment, and serving lines; maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization.
