Job summary

Nassau BOCES seeks a Systems Specialist/Safety Training Assistant to help plan and coordinate health and safety training and information programs for participating local school districts. The role involves advising districts, organizing workshops, and ensuring compliance with New York health and safety standards.

Under supervision, the incumbent will develop training strategies, maintain resources, and support district efforts in risk management and emergency procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Health Science or Public Health.
• Experience with health and safety in a school environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise participating districts on appropriate training strategies for personnel.
• Develop and implement health and safety training workshops and awareness programs (e.g., Right-to-Know, AHERA, EPA regulations).
• Serve as a resource to districts for planning procedures and implementing health and safety programs.
• Assist districts in developing plans to resolve regulatory noncompliance.
• Update in-district resource materials and planning guides; disseminate toxic substance data information.
• Coordinate and preside at Advisory Committee meetings and disseminate information through newsletters.
